Historically the Gandys have been in business since 1950. The first shop they had was in the St. Andrew area of Bay Co., FL. It started with a block ice plant. Due to the economy and market demand going in different directions, the Gandy's decided in 1982 to mill around and find a new venture. Buddy, and his wife, Deborah, found the current day location that was an old run down car wash and service station that had closed. Buddy saw that it had rusted down but decided to buy the location just for the property. It needed some TLC. The Gandys decided to process fish there and within a year the fish market we know today was born in 1985. Over the years, there have been constant upgrades to the business and after putting large coolers in the business began wholesaling to what has become many locations around the country today.
Today, Gandy's is a full wholesale and retail seafood distributor. New York City's Fulton Fish Market is one of New York's finest farmer's market and they buy and sell with Gandy's and have for many years. That market has been around since the 1800's and now sell seafood in the Bronx serving most states in the surrounding NE in the restaurant trade. Gandy's buy and sell trading Gulf Coast seafood for Atlantic seafood. As you can see Gandy's serves the best companies and only buys from the best so that you get the seafood you want and always fresh. Gandy's is the place to get those fresh oysters from Apalachicola and get recipes for fish preparation.
Locally Captain Anderson's, Joe Patty's in Pensacola, Schooners and Pineapple Willy's are a few big names that are supplied with a healthy amount of seafood from Gandy's.
